Fun fact, from my Michigan reading, though it has nothing to do with Michigan except that it's from the time when Malcolm X was known as "Detroit Red": in Harlem in the early '40s, Malcolm worked at Jimmy's Chicken Shack alongside a dishwasher known as "Chicago Red," who later became Redd Foxx. Talk about awesome people hanging out together. (I saw this in Manning Marable's new biography, but I went back to the autobiography and found I had already read it there, years ago, and forgotten.)
Even more fun fact--an impossibly fun and useful fact, considering what an important role the formerly famous British-Canadian blockbuster author of Hotel, Airport, and other airport novels now plays in our culture, is that Arthur Hailey (not to be confused with Alex Haley, re: my first fun fact) looked an awful lot like Joe Biden, at least in this author photo from the back of the copy of Wheels (his Detroit auto industry potboiler) I have checked out from the library.
That is a fact your life is better for knowing.
